Terms of Service
Last updated July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Cases website and legal research service. By using our services you agree to these Terms.
Not legal advice, no attorney-client relationship
Cases is an informational legal research tool. It is not a law firm, it does not provide legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Results are starting points for your own research and judgment, not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney about your specific situation. You are responsible for how you use anything Cases returns.
Verify every citation
You must independently verify every case and citation before relying on it or using it in any filing, brief, or advice. Cases shows you the citation so you can confirm it in the official reporter. We do not claim to be perfectly free of errors or hallucinations, and no legal AI honestly can, so you, and not Cases, remain the gatekeeper on anything you cite or rely on.
Accounts
You are responsible for the information you provide and for activity under your account. You must give an accurate email address and keep your access credentials secure. You may not share your account in a way that exceeds the seats on your plan.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service, including by attempting to access data or accounts you are not authorized to, interfering with the service, reverse-engineering it, scraping or bulk-extracting results, or using it to violate any law or third-party right.
Plans and billing
Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or yearly basis as shown at signup, in US dollars. You can cancel anytime and your plan will not renew for the next period. Fees already paid are generally non-refundable except where required by law. We may change pricing with reasonable notice.
Your research and ownership
You retain all rights to the questions and research you enter. We use your queries to provide the service and, in aggregated or de-identified form, to improve search quality, as described in our Privacy Policy. We claim no ownership over your research, and we do not sell or share your searches.
Sample and illustrative content
Any example questions, case names, citations, or results shown in the demo or in marketing pages are illustrative and are provided to show how the product behaves. They are not offered as guaranteed-real law or legal advice, and you should not rely on them without verifying the underlying source.
Service availability
We work to keep the service available and reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Enterprise plans may include specific service-level agreements.
Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, including any warranty that results are complete, accurate, current, or suitable for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cases is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the state in which Cases is organized, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The specific governing jurisdiction and venue are set out in your order or account agreement.
Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms. On termination, we will delete or return your information as described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated, and continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
