Privacy Policy

Last updated July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Cases ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website or use our legal research service. We aim to be plain and honest about what we do with data. Cases is an informational legal research tool, not legal advice and not a substitute for a lawyer.

Information we collect

When you create an account we collect your email address and a verification code we send to confirm it. If you contact us, we collect your name, email, and message. We also collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the page that referred you, along with any UTM parameters in the link you arrived from.

Your research queries

When you use Cases you enter legal questions in plain English to find on-point case law. We treat your research queries as private. We do not sell them, and we do not share them with other users. We use them to return relevant precedents, to operate and secure the service, and, in aggregated or de-identified form, to improve search quality. We never publish or attribute your searches to you.

How we use information

  • To create and secure your account and confirm your email.
  • To run your plain-English searches, return on-point cases with summaries, holdings, and citations, and send you product communications about your access.
  • To respond to your messages and provide support.
  • To understand how the site is used and improve search quality.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information and we do not sell your research queries. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the site and service (for example, email delivery and analytics), under contracts that require them to protect it, or where required by law.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functions and to understand how the site is used. We use Microsoft Clarity for product analytics, which may record aggregated usage and interaction data to help us improve the experience. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Data retention

We keep account and contact information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, then delete or anonymize it. Research queries are retained only as long as needed to operate and improve the service. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest and access controls. Your research is yours; we do not share or sell your searches. Enterprise plans add SSO, audit logging, and additional options.

Your choices

You can access, correct, or delete your information, and you can opt out of non-essential email at any time. To request deletion of your account or data, email [email protected].
