Judge Analytics Pricing Compared Across Trellis, Westlaw, Lex Machina and Bloomberg Law

One demo search, no account needed: 3 real cases with the citation you can check.

Only one judge analytics product publishes a standalone price: Trellis, at 210 dollars a month or 2,016 a year for Research with Judge Analytics, covering one state. Westlaw includes Litigation Analytics inside Westlaw Advantage, published at 256.75 to 399.75 dollars per user per month for firms up to 10 attorneys. Lex Machina, Bloomberg Law, Pre/Dicta and UniCourt's analytics are all quote only.

That split decides most purchases before any demo. If you litigate in one state's trial courts, there is a number you can budget today. If your work is federal, you are choosing between a research subscription that bundles judge data and a specialist that will only talk price on a call. This breakdown is for a US litigator or litigation manager pricing judge analytics this quarter. We read every vendor's own site on 7 October 2026 and, on each one, requested a page that never existed, so a missing pricing page here means a real absence rather than a blocked request. It is informational research, not legal advice.

How much does judge analytics software cost?

The table separates what a vendor states from what is repeated about it. Published means the figure is on the vendor's own site. Reported means third-party write-ups that the vendor has not confirmed. US dollars, before tax.

Two of these are worth a second look. Trellis changed its rate card in early October: our reads of the same support page in August and on 30 September showed 199.95 a month for the analytics plan with 900 views a year, and on 7 October it showed 210 with 2,100 views. The headline went up 5 percent while the allowance more than doubled. Westlaw, meanwhile, does not sell Litigation Analytics on its own at all. You buy it by buying the research subscription, which is fine if you needed Westlaw anyway and expensive if you did not.

Which judge analytics tool is best for state court?

For state trial courts, Trellis is the specialist and the only one with a visible price. It indexes dockets, motions and rulings by county, then shows how a specific judge has ruled on comparable motions, and its coverage menu lists 43 states plus the District of Columbia. The limit is structural: every individual plan covers one state, so a regional practice needs a quoted Law Firm plan. Our Trellis case search pricing page has the full plan detail.

If one state is not enough, the alternatives get more expensive quickly. Lex Machina has enhanced data for a subset of state courts and quotes per firm. Westlaw Litigation Analytics covers state judges inside a 3,081 to 4,797 dollar yearly seat. We compared the multi-state options, docket tools included, in Trellis Law alternatives compared by price.

Which judge analytics tool is best for federal court?

For federal civil litigation, Lex Machina is the reference product. It is built on the complete federal district civil dataset and breaks outcomes down by judge, party, law firm, damages and timing across 22 practice areas. It is also the one you cannot price without a call, and it is usually sold alongside a LexisNexis agreement. Our Lex Machina page covers what the quote process looks like.

Westlaw Litigation Analytics is the practical alternative for a firm that already pays for Westlaw. It is less deep than Lex Machina on damages and party history, but there is no second contract, and the price is published. Bloomberg Law's Litigation Analytics sits in the same position for Bloomberg customers. For patent work, Docket Navigator and Lex Machina are the usual pair, and the Docket Navigator pricing breakdown shows the per-library bands.

Is Westlaw judge analytics worth paying for?

Westlaw judge analytics is worth it when you would buy Westlaw Advantage anyway, because Litigation Analytics comes included and adds no line to the invoice. It is rarely worth buying Westlaw only to get judge data. At 256.75 dollars a month for a single circuit, you would pay about 1,000 dollars a year more than Trellis's analytics plan for a state practice that never opens the research side.

The honest test is to count the hearings. A litigator with two or three contested motions a month before judges they have never appeared in front of gets real value from any of these tools. A lawyer who appears before the same four judges every year usually knows more than the dashboard does. The Westlaw Advantage pricing page lists what each tier adds.

How do you get a real price from a vendor that publishes none?

Ask every quote-only vendor the same five questions in writing: the price per user per year, the seat minimum, the term length, whether state courts are included or extra, and what happens to the price at renewal. Vendors that publish nothing price against what they think you will pay, so a written quote from one competitor is the most useful thing you can bring to the next call.

Put the three quotes side by side before anyone signs. Firms that already route software purchases through a procurement workflow with vendor quotes compared line by line tend to catch the two traps in this market: a multi-year term presented as a discount, and state court coverage sold as an add-on after the base price is agreed. Use Trellis's 2,016 a year and Westlaw's 256.75 a month as the published anchors in that comparison, because they are the only two numbers in this category nobody can dispute.

What judge analytics cannot tell you

Judge analytics tells you how a judge has ruled. It does not tell you what the law is, and a grant rate is not an argument. The brief still has to cite the appellate decisions that bind the court, and that is a different search: the published federal and state opinions on your issue, read in full, with citations you can check.

That is the part Cases does. You ask a legal question in plain English and read the US decisions that answer it, each with a citation you can open, for 49 dollars a month or 24 billed yearly, with no sales call. We do not offer judge analytics and we have no citator, so verify every citation before you file. Most litigators who buy one of the tools above still need a case law search next to it, and our legal research pricing comparison sets out the published and reported prices for that side of the budget.

Judge analytics pricing questions

Is judge analytics included in Westlaw?

Yes, in Westlaw Edge and Westlaw Advantage. Litigation Analytics, which covers judges, courts, attorneys and case timing, is listed among the features those tiers add. Thomson Reuters publishes Westlaw Advantage online at 256.75 dollars per user per month for a single circuit and 399.75 for all states and federal, for firms up to 10 attorneys.

How much does Lex Machina cost?

Lex Machina publishes no price. Its pricing address redirects rather than showing a rate, and the product is quoted per firm, usually as part of or alongside a LexisNexis agreement. The only judge analytics product with a published standalone price is Trellis, at 2,016 dollars a year for one state, which is a useful anchor when you ask for a Lex Machina quote.

Does Trellis have judge analytics?

Yes. Judge Analytics is the top Trellis individual plan, Research and Judge Analytics, at 210 dollars a month or 2,016 a year as of 7 October 2026. It covers one state and includes 2,100 content views a year. The cheaper Personal and Research plans include judge biographies but not the analytics module.

Is there a judge analytics tool for solo attorneys?

Trellis is the only one a solo can buy with a card from a published price, at 210 dollars a month for one state. Westlaw Advantage includes Litigation Analytics from 256.75 dollars a month and is sold online to firms of one to ten attorneys. Lex Machina, Bloomberg Law and Pre/Dicta sell through sales and are mainly priced for firms.
